Gold prices rose on Monday, August 17, supported by the weakening dollar and by the retreat in expectations of a rise in interest rates by the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed).On the spot market, gold gained 1.2%, to reach $4,426.52 per ounce.
Note that U.S. gold futures for December delivery also rose 1.1%, to $4,484.10.
Regarding other precious metals, spot silver rose 2.8%, to $66.44 per ounce.
Platinum rose 2%, to $1,783, while palladium advanced 1.5%, to $1,332.49.
