The Nabeul Regional Commissariat for Agricultural Development has announced the organization of ongoing, free rabies vaccination sessions, every Wednesday and Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, at the Hammamet Agricultural Extension Center.
This initiative, according to a statement published on the Commissariat’s official Facebook page, is part of the national strategy for rabies prevention, raising awareness of its dangers and promoting animal welfare, in order to safeguard public health and reduce the health risks associated with this disease.
In the same statement, the Commissariat called on all pet owners, especially dog and cat owners, to participate in these vaccination campaigns to combat rabies.
It should be recalled that regional veterinary services have intensified free rabies vaccination campaigns by establishing mobile vaccination points distributed across the country’s various governorates, in order to protect animal health and the safety of citizens.
The campaign also includes awareness and information activities aimed at pet owners and citizens, to better inform them about the dangers of rabies and the means of preventing it. This disease, transmissible between animals and humans, can be prevented through regular vaccination.
This initiative is part of the “One Health” approach, based on the interdependence between human health, animal health, and the environment. It aims to strengthen rabies prevention and to limit its spread by bringing vaccination services closer to citizens and by increasing the vaccination coverage rate of animals exposed to the risk of infection.
