Heavy Rain Expected in Kasserine: Safety Guidelines

The governorate of Kasserine has urged all residents to exercise vigilance and prudence in anticipation of heavy rainfall expected from the evening of Friday, 18 September 2026, and in the following days.

In a statement, regional authorities stressed the need to follow safety guidelines and to avoid taking any risks in areas exposed to floods and runoff.

The governorate has called on residents to refrain from crossing wadis, regardless of weather conditions, to avoid the risks associated with a potential rapid rise in water levels.

Authorities also recommend staying away from areas considered dangerous and capable of threatening people’s safety.

The communiqué calls on the directors of educational establishments to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students as well as teaching and administrative staff.

Il est notamment demandé de ne pas autoriser les élèves à quitter les établissements pendant les périodes de fortes perturbations météorologiques.

The communiqué calls on the directors of educational establishments to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students as well as teaching and administrative staff.

In particular, it is requested not to authorize students to leave the establishments during periods of severe weather disturbances.

Consignes de prudence pour les automobilistes

Road users are also urged to adapt their driving to the weather conditions.

The governorate recommends reducing speed, maintaining a safe following distance between vehicles, using headlights while traveling, and strictly observing traffic and road safety rules.

Les commissions de lutte contre les catastrophes mobilisées

The regional commission as well as local commissions for disaster prevention and mitigation and for organizing relief remain in session to monitor the evolution of the situation.

Field interventions are being carried out in coordination with the operations room under the Regional Directorate of Civil Protection of Kasserine, with the participation of the various regional and local structures involved.

The governorate of Kasserine finally calls on residents to regularly monitor the evolution of weather conditions through the media and to adhere to the recommendations issued by the competent authorities.
