A private plane left the runway and caught fire on Monday morning at Misrata International Airport in Libya, causing a temporary suspension of air traffic within the airport.
According to Libyan media sources, the aircraft carried only its crew of three, and no passengers were on board. The flight crew included a captain of German nationality, as well as a Turkish national co-pilot and a flight attendant.
According to the initial information available, the aircraft reportedly experienced a technical problem with its engine while in flight during the approach phase. In the face of this failure, the captain is said to have been forced to perform an emergency landing.
During the maneuver, the aircraft deviated from its trajectory before exiting the runway. It then caught fire shortly after.
