The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies announced a series of new measures aimed at strengthening the protection of children online, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safer digital environment for them and to enable parents to better control their children’s use of the Internet.
These measures are part of the decision of the National Telecommunications Authority, dated June 10, 2026, which requires Internet service providers to offer a minimal set of parental control devices designed to protect children from inappropriate content.
Among the main measures planned is the possibility for parents to filter the addresses of websites deemed inappropriate through a blacklist. The proposed devices also allow management and identification of devices connected to the network, as well as defining Internet access time windows.
The decision also requires Internet service providers to inform their subscribers about the existence of available parental control services, as well as the modalities for activating, deactivating and using them. They must also provide a guide or document detailing the features of these services, as well as the methods for configuring and using them.
The measures also foresee the provision of advanced parental control services, in the form of apps, digital platforms or other solutions.
When these services are offered for a fee, their cost must be clearly included on the subscription bill, while ensuring the subscriber’s right to terminate their subscription to the service at any time.
The decision also provides that contracts for Internet services must include an explicit clause relating to child protection features. The service provider is also required to provide the parental control tools and to inform the subscriber of their features as well as of how to use them.
Through these measures, authorities aim to strengthen the role of parents in protecting children from risks and inappropriate content in the digital space, and to contribute to creating a safer Internet environment for children and families.
