After ten years of collaboration with Puma, Olympique de Marseille will change kit supplier.
Adidas will regain the club’s rights at the expiration of the current contract, in June 2028. The German brand will thus reconnect with a club it has long supported and with which it notably won the Champions League in 1993.
In 2018, at the end of a season culminating in a Europa League final defeat against Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético Madrid (3-0), it was a partnership of more than forty years that had been interrupted.
Closely linked, the German brand and the Provençal club wished to work together again from 2028, at the expiry of the current contract with the aforementioned German equipment supplier.
In the past, Adidas left its mark on the Phocaean city thanks to many jerseys that became legendary.
A significant increase in revenue
Naturally, the white jersey featuring sky-blue three stripes starting from the shoulder to the arm will forever be remembered for the sole title won by the Marseillais in the Champions League in 1993.
Six years later, the centenary jersey for OM had adopted gold. World Cup champions French Robert Pires, Laurent Blanc, Christophe Dugarry as well as Italian Fabrizio Ravanelli notably wore it.
From 2028, the Herzogenaurach-based sports brand will again have the opportunity to write the history of the Phocaean club after a decade of separation.
According to AFP, these reunions will moreover allow the club, now chaired by Stéphane Richard, to significantly increase its revenues.
The current contract with Puma pours between 20 and 25 million euros into OM’s coffers. This amount could nearly double.
