Since Sunday, July 19, prosecutors at the Pontoise public prosecutor’s office (Val-d’Oise) have been working to locate the carry-on bag of a wealthy 45-year-old American businessman, as revealed by Le Parisien on Wednesday, July 22. The loss is estimated at 1.3 million euros.
A mystery on the route to the palace
Between landing at Paris-CDG and arriving at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, in the capital’s very upscale 8th arrondissement, this precious bag would have been “misplaced.” It had, however, been taken care of on the tarmac by a luxury concierge dispatched by the hotel to look after the client’s suitcases.
It was only once he had reached his room, after enjoying the city, relieved to be free of the burden of his luggage, that the health technology businessman realized that his carry-on bag had not been brought up. Yet only two suitcases were removed from the car, which did not stop on the way from the international airport to the palace.
A mystery that the Val-d’Oise police have tried to clarify with the private concierge company, notably by questioning the employee responsible for the baggage reception. No information has emerged since, Le Bien Public notes. The prosecutor’s office is therefore still seeking a ring valued at 800,000 euros, as well as a pair of earrings and a necklace, for a total estimated at 1.3 million euros.
