The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, spoke by phone yesterday afternoon with the Libyan Presidential Council President, Mohamed al-Menfi.
According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, this interview focused on the fraternal relations uniting the two brotherly peoples as well as on the necessity of facing the numerous challenges, on the basis of a deep and steadfast conviction in the values of fraternity and complementarity, in a context marked by successive and unprecedented evolutions that impose overcoming all difficulties.
The head of the state notably insisted on the need to intensify consultations in order to lift all obstacles and facilitate the movement of people and goods in both directions at the various border posts.
Kaïs Saïed stressed that the ties between the two brotherly peoples transcend all considerations, affirming that each one guards the other’s security as well as its own and stands beside its brother, even putting him before himself. He noted, in this regard, that the examples illustrating the depth of the relations between the two peoples are numerous and almost impossible to enumerate.
The President of the Republic also reaffirmed Tunisia’s constant position in favor of Libya’s unity, stressing that the solution can only be Libyan-Libyan.
He added that Libyans possess the necessary capacities to reach solutions they can accept and that will guarantee their security and stability, while allowing them to realize their aspirations in terms of prosperity, growth and development.
