A working session held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism, dedicated to monitoring tourist activity in the Tozeur Governorate, the progress of planned projects and interventions as well as the main planned events, allowed an assessment of the work carried out on the Ong Jmel site.
The first phase of the restoration and redevelopment project for the site has been completed, while preparations continue for the launch of the second phase. This includes the layout of the site’s surroundings, the creation of spaces dedicated to exhibiting handicraft products, the creation of a parking lot, maintenance of basic facilities, and the installation of information panels. These interventions aim to strengthen the site’s capacity to welcome visitors and provide better conditions for them.
The meeting also allowed monitoring the pace of tourism investments in the Tozeur Governorate, which is undergoing significant momentum. Two new tourism units have already opened their doors, while several alternative tourism accommodation establishments are set to come on line in the coming period, thus contributing to strengthening the destination’s accommodation capacity and its attractiveness.
