The economic control services intensified their interventions in the Béja governorate since the start of Ramadan, as part of the preparations and organization of the markets.
The regional director of commerce, Imed Sandid, told the correspondent of Tunisia Digital in the region that the setup relies on mobilizing eight mixed-control teams, reinforced by mobile teams deployed in the markets of the different delegations.
Eight mixed teams and mobile brigades in the markets
According to Imed Sandid, the deployed teams bring together commerce agents, security forces, health services, as well as representatives of the National Authority for Health Security. Meanwhile, mobile teams intervene in various markets in the Béja delegations to ensure an increased on-site presence.
Objective: transparency of transactions and consumer protection
The regional official specified that these teams carry out control campaigns in several zones and commercial spaces, with the aims of ensuring transparency of transactions, protecting the consumer, and closely monitoring the quality and safety of the products offered for sale.
175 offenses recorded during the first six days of Ramadan
The numerical tally: during the first six days of Ramadan, the control teams recorded 175 economic offenses in different areas of the governorate, stressed the regional director of commerce.
Vegetables, fruits and basic staples at the heart of the violations
Imed Sandid indicated that the offenses observed mainly concern vegetables, fruits and basic food products, sectors that traditionally experience strong market pressure during Ramadan.
950 inspection visits, about 30 offenses per day
The control operations also allowed 950 inspection visits during the same period, i.e., an overall rate of about 30 offenses per day, added the official.
