The governorate of Sfax hosted the activities of the Second National Day of Eye Health, with the participation of Habib Bourguiba University Hospital, several regional hospitals, and private clinics, as part of a health initiative that enabled 170 citizens to benefit free of charge from cataract removal surgeries.

The event, organized by the Regional Health Directorate, saw the participation of about 10 private hospital facilities, alongside public structures, with the aim of reducing waiting lists and bringing health services closer to citizens.

Hatem Cherif, the regional health director in Sfax, stated that this initiative reflects the importance of complementarity between the public and private sectors, noting that this experience could be adopted in the future in other medical specialties.

The surgical interventions were distributed between Habib Bourguiba University Hospital and the regional hospitals of Jebiniana, El Mahres, and Kerkennah, within the framework of a significant mobilization of medical and paramedical staff to ensure the smooth conduct of the operations.
