Moroccan media outlets have revealed that the leadership of Wydad Casablanca is racing against the clock to recruit Moroccan midfielder Sabir Bougrine.
The club is in advanced negotiations, even with the player’s agent, in order to finalize his arrival before the Moroccan transfer window closes.
The former Espérance de Tunis midfielder is currently free of any contract after the expiration of his contract with Raja Casablanca. This situation makes the operation particularly interesting for Wydad, which would not have to pay a traditional transfer fee if an agreement is reached.
At 30 years old, Bougrine shone with Raja last season, disputing 25 Botola matches, 22 of them as a starter, and scoring one goal and providing two assists.
According to the club’s behind-the-scenes sources, it is president Ibrahim El Asri who personally leads negotiations with the player’s representative. However, no final agreement has yet been reached.
As the Moroccan transfer window nears its end, discussions could quickly accelerate, officials are looking to secure the midfielder’s services before the deadline.
