The Tunindex closed on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 18,606.50 points, up 0.27%.
The main market traded 5.95 million dinars, with 28 stocks advancing against 23 declining.
Behind this advance, purchases by mutual funds (OPCVM, Organisme de Placement Collectif en Valeurs Mobilières) and the concentration of liquidity provide the main benchmarks of the session.
A selective rise, with banks backing the market
The index’s advance does not reflect a broad rise in prices. Of the 75 listed companies, 60 traded: 28 rose, 23 declined, and nine remained unchanged. Thirteen others were not traded during the session and two were suspended.
The banking index rises by 0.49%. The sector accounts for 58.23% of the Tunindex’s weighting, giving its direction a major influence on the overall index. Amen Bank gains 1.58% to 88.600 dinars and UIB 2.28% to 35.900 dinars. BIAT moves in the opposite direction, down 0.30% to 164.000 dinars.
The contrast is evident in other sectors. The building and construction materials index rises 0.97%, while basic materials fall 1.78%. Consumer goods retreat 0.09% and distribution 0.20%. The Tunindex’s rise thus rests on a market whose components remain unevenly oriented.
