The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, presided, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, over the inauguration ceremony of the technology research and development center of the German group LAPP, a world leader in the manufacture of cables destined for industrial, electrical, and electronic uses.

According to the External Investment Promotion Agency, this research and development center currently comprises about thirty young engineers and executives. The group also plans to create a production unit in Tunisia in the near future.

The LAPP group is regarded as one of the leading German players in the cable industry. It offers nearly 50,000 product types, produced in 27 production units spread across several European, Asian, and American countries, and employs nearly 6,000 people.
