USA: Ahead of November 3, Elon Musk Spends $276 Million on the Republicans’ Campaign

Since July, the upcoming midterm elections in the United States, scheduled for November 3, have made Elon Musk the most significant donor, according to the New York Times. Taking into account money invested during the primaries in particular, the total amount rises to 366 million.

The main beneficiary of these donations is the Senate Leadership Fund, which has received 158 million dollars, with the aim of preserving the control over the Senate.

Previously, the head of Tesla and SpaceX spent heavily in a single election: for the 2024 presidential race, he backed Donald Trump on the path back to the White House to the tune of 290 million dollars.

In the United States, individual donations are limited to 3,300 dollars per person. But certain loopholes in the U.S. campaign-finance system make these megadonors possible, notably through political action committees (PACs). The New York Times revealed that Elon Musk had given 76 million dollars to his own PAC this summer.

A string of bad polls for Donald Trump!

The bad polling data is piling up for Donald Trump a few weeks ahead of the midterm elections that could cost Republicans their majority in Congress and redraw the power map in Washington for the next two years.
