Several regions of the Arab world are expected to experience, in the coming days, a broad situation of meteorological instability affecting 13 Arab countries, with the risk of thunderstorms of varying intensity through the end of the week.
According to the latest forecasts from the specialized platform Arab Weather, convective clouds will continue to develop in several areas, increasing the probabilities of showers sometimes locally strong, particularly over uplands and mountainous regions.
This situation could be accompanied by lightning, thunder, and a risk of flash floods in low-lying areas, valleys and rugged terrain.
Arabian Peninsula: thunderstorms expected on several uplands
In the Sultanate of Oman, conditions will remain favorable for the formation of convective clouds, particularly along the Hajar mountains. Thunderstorms of variable intensity, sometimes locally strong, are expected, with risks of hail and runoff in the valleys.
In the United Arab Emirates, thunderstorm cells could develop over the eastern elevations, with a possibility of extension to some inland areas.
In Saudi Arabia, thunderstorm rainfall should continue over the heights of Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha, with a possibility of extension of some clouds to parts of the Mecca region.
In Yemen, instability will remain marked over the western highlands, where thunderstorm rains, sometimes strong locally, could favor flooding in some valleys.
Levant: humidity and showers along the eastern shores of the Mediterranean
In the Levantine countries, certain parts of the eastern shores of the Mediterranean will remain under the influence of relatively moist currents, favoring the formation of low and middle clouds.
Isolated showers are expected on the Syrian and Lebanese coasts, as well as on certain areas of the Palestinian littoral. They could be accompanied by limited thunderstorm activity.
In Jordan, forecasts mention the appearance of low clouds, a strengthening of surface winds and a drop in temperatures.
North Africa: rains, winds and possible dust
Large regions of North Africa, notably Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, are expected to experience intermittent activity of thunderclouds, with showers of varying intensity at times.
Some precipitation could be accompanied by winds lifting dust and sand locally, which could reduce horizontal visibility in several areas.
Sudan: continuation of tropical humidity
In Sudan, tropical moisture coming from the south will continue to feed the formation of thunderclouds over wide areas, particularly in the south of the country.
Thus rainfall is expected at different times of the day, with a risk of locally sustained showers.
Widespread instability to monitor
This weather situation is considered relatively widespread due to its geographic impact on 13 Arab countries.
The risks of thunderstorm development will remain during the hottest hours of the day until the end of the week. Residents of mountainous areas, valleys and regions exposed to flash floods are urged to regularly follow weather bulletins and exercise vigilance.
