The progress of several major strategic projects, as well as the proposed solutions to overcome the obstacles hindering their completion, were the focus of a restricted ministerial council held today.
Following its work, the Council recommended accelerating the realization of all these structural projects included in the development plan for the 2026-2030 period, and to immediately initiate the procedures relating to the construction of the Enfidha deep-water port. It was also decided to prioritize the incremental implementation of functional phases of the project, in order to guarantee economic profitability and the immediate operation of the infrastructures built.
The Enfidha deep-water port project is considered a national strategic project aimed at strengthening commercial exchanges and boosting the national economy. Of exceptional scale and in line with international standards, it benefits from a strategic geographic location at the heart of the Mediterranean basin and is expected to create 52,000 jobs.
The project includes a deep-water container port capable of accommodating giant ships, as well as a logistics and industrial services area. The port will be connected to road networks, highways and the rail network. It also aims to balance economic objectives with environmental requirements.
This project should enable Tunisia to position itself as a major regional logistics and commercial hub in the Mediterranean and strengthen its competitiveness.
