The Ministry of Trade and the Promotion of Exports, in a press release detailing the results of its oversight activities, stated that it recorded 11,282 economic infractions during the period from the 1st to the 16th of Ramadan in the year 2026.
The figures show a 7.5% increase in the number of infractions compared with the same Ramadan period in 2025, which had recorded 10,496 infractions.
These results followed the completion of 56,924 on-site control visits, covering various stores, wholesale and retail outlets.
The interventions were distributed across 2,489 intervention zones nationwide.
This assessment forms part of the Ministry’s strategy to strengthen price control and to combat monopolistic and speculative practices, in order to ensure the supply of essential goods during the Ramadan month.
