African leaders announced the official launch of the African Infrastructure Financing Mechanism (AIFF), a new platform aimed at accelerating the financing and delivery of strategic infrastructure projects on the continent.
This mechanism, unveiled in Addis Ababa, was launched during the third High-Level Presidential Dialogue of the Alliance of African Multilateral Financial Institutions (AAMFI), held on the sidelines of the 39th African Union Summit.
The initiative is part of a cooperation agreement between AUDA-NEPAD and the AAMFI. It aims to establish a structured, Africa-led coordination system to facilitate the preparation and financing of prioritized cross-border infrastructure projects.
According to African officials, the objective is also to mobilize financial resources available on the continent to support industrialization, job creation and economic development.
