The fire that broke out Thursday afternoon in the Rimel forest, in the Bizerte Governorate, was brought under control thanks to the coordinated efforts of the various parties mobilized on the ground.
The fire had started in the western part of the forest, prompting regional authorities to activate the Green Intervention Plan. The firefighting operations were made particularly difficult by the strength of the winds, which hindered the work of the teams deployed on site.
The Civil Protection units, the Forestry Directorate, the Regional Directorate of Equipment, as well as the municipalities of Bizerte and Menzel Jemil participated in the firefighting operations. They also benefited from the support of equipment belonging to the National Army.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact causes of the ignition of this fire.
