The Ministry of Health announced the continuation of its digital transformation program for the health sector, notably through advancing the national health identifier project and the citizen portal “Sahetna”. These measures aim to simplify the care pathway and to protect citizens’ health data.

The national citizen health portal “Sahetna”, accessible at Sahetna.tn, has entered the final phases of security auditing and technical validation. It is set to become a unified and secure digital space, allowing citizens to easily monitor their care journey, their appointments, and their children’s medical records.

The steering committee for digital transformation, held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, was devoted to monitoring the progress of these projects and assessing their readiness level ahead of their phased deployment.

During this meeting, participants highlighted the success of the pilot experience of the national health identifier conducted at Salah-Azaïz Institute and La Rabta Hospital. This phase was accompanied by training for the medical and administrative staff concerned, as well as work to improve data quality to avoid duplicate records and to guarantee each patient a unified medical file.

The first trial of the digital birth declaration system has also been launched in several health facilities. This system will eventually automatically assign a health identifier to newborns, while taking into account special circumstances and emergency cases.
