The correspondent for Tunisian Numérique reported, on Monday, August 24, 2026, the prices of several food products along Kheireddine-Pacha Street, known as the Bab Zenaiez market, in the city of Béja.
The surveys concern notably vegetables, fruits, red and white meats, as well as several varieties of fish.
The price per kilogram of lamb at 55 dinars
In the red meat section, the price per kilogram of lamb reached 55 dinars.
Regarding white meats, chicken was offered at 7.5 dinars per kilogram, while the price of the escalopes stood at 17 dinars per kilogram.
The prices of vegetables
The prices recorded for the main vegetables were as follows :
Potatoes: 2.5 dinars per kilogram
Peppers: between 1.2 and 2 dinars per kilogram
Tomatoes: 1 dinar per kilogram
Onions: 2 dinars per kilogram
The prices of fruits
For fruits, the price of melon stood at 1.5 dinars per kilogram.
Apples were sold between 3 and 7 dinars per kilogram, depending on variety and quality.
The kilogram of figs was offered at 5.5 dinars, as was grapes, also sold at 5.5 dinars per kilogram.
The prices of fish
Fish prices varied considerably depending on the species offered at the market.
“Meghzel” was listed at 5.8 dinars per kilogram, while tuna reached 10.8 dinars.
“Chourou” was sold at 7.5 dinars per kilogram, versus 27 dinars for sea bass.
“Bouga” was displayed at 7.8 dinars per kilogram, while the price of “dourades” reached 22 dinars.
These prices correspond to the levels observed on Monday, August 24, 2026 at the Bab Zenaiez market in Béja.
