The general director of the National Development Authority in Libya, Mahmoud Al-Farjani, announced that the Authority was ready to engage in direct investment with the Tunisian government in the development and construction of airport infrastructure, underscoring the importance of strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries and developing air transport infrastructure.
During his participation in the Libyan-French Economic Summit on Investment and Development, held in the city of Sirte on September 10 and 11, Al-Farjani indicated that Tunisia constitutes a neighboring country of strategic importance for Libya. He notably stressed that the flow of Libyan tourists to Tunisia represents a key figure, surpassing 3 million visitors per year across various fields, including medical tourism, leisure, and transit.
The director-general of the Authority also stated that it was fully prepared to study investment and development opportunities, either through a long-term investment in the current Tunis-Carthage International Airport and its modernization, or through the construction of a new airport at another site in the Tunisian capital, in coordination with the competent authorities.
Al-Farjani also affirmed that the Authority possessed the technical expertise and the financial capacities necessary, supported by international partnerships as well as equipment and materials equipped with European technologies. According to him, these assets would contribute to strengthening economic stability and regional development, while generating direct benefits for both countries.
