A budget envelope decided on August 14
The decision was announced during the Restricted Ministers’ Council on August 14, 2026, devoted to preparations for the school year, university year, and vocational training.
The government decided to allocate 67 million dinars in additional funds to the back-to-school social aid program in order to support poor and low-income families.
Financial assistance, supplies and transport
The announced measures include financial and in-kind assistance intended in particular to ensure that students have access to essential school supplies.
The scheme also provides free transport for the beneficiaries concerned.
The Council of Ministers also stressed the availability of subsidized textbooks and notebooks, as well as the preparation of transport, accommodation and meals for school and university students.
Measures for students facing difficulties
The program also includes preventive actions and social insertion initiatives, as well as a lifelong learning framework.
The government has notably planned the creation of centers for social protection intended to accompany young people who prematurely left the formal education system.
At this stage, the official decision of August 14 sets the overall envelope and the main forms of aid. It does not, on its own, constitute an announcement of the start of individual disbursements for the 2026-2027 year.
