Tunisia: Central Bank of Tunisia Gold Reserves Value Rises to Over 1.7 Billion Dinars

According to the financial statements of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), published on Tuesday, September 15 in the JORT, the value of cash gold holdings as of August 31, 2026 stands at more than 1.77 billion dinars, compared with 1.67 billion dinars at the end of 2025. As a reminder, the BCT’s gold holdings amounted to 6.8 tonnes of fine gold as of December 31, 2025.

The rise in the value of gold reserves is mainly explained by the increase in the price of gold on the international market and the appreciation of the dollar against the dinar.

The price of a fine ounce of gold rose from 4 307,9 dollars, at the end of December 2025, to 4 340 dollars as of today.

Note that the majority of gold bars is held in the BCT’s vaults and with the Bank of England. The commemorative coins, which represent a little over 2.6 tonnes, are, however, valued at the fixed official rate, without taking into account market fluctuations.
