The first meteorological disturbances begin to affect the northwestern regions of Tunisia, this Friday, October 9, 2026, with the arrival of cold air masses, a strengthening of the winds, and significant rainfall in several areas.

Heavy rain recorded in Jendouba

According to the Tunisie Numérique correspondent in Béja, the first signs of this weather degradation are observed in the region, while substantial amounts of rain have already been recorded in several localities of the Jendouba governorate, notably Tabarka.

These changes are accompanied by a drop in perceived temperatures and winds that mark the start of the unsettled episode announced for the northwest of the country.

Up to 70 mm of rain expected in certain regions

The National Institute of Meteorology (INM) had forecast temporarily thunderstorm-like rains in the extreme north, before a progressive extension of precipitation to the other northern regions of the country.

According to INM forecasts, totals could locally reach 70 millimeters in the governorates of Jendouba, Béja and Bizerte, as well as in Greater Tunis.

The heaviest rainfall is particularly expected during the nighttime hours.

This weather development calls for vigilance, especially in areas likely to experience water accumulations due to the intensity of the rains.
