On the occasion of GITEX, the issues related to artificial intelligence and intellectual property were at the heart of discussions. Among the notable voices, that of Garry Yankson, a Franco-Ghanaian entrepreneur and C-level advisor, active between Europe and Africa, drew particular attention.
Specialized in developing projects within the cultural and creative industries, Garry Yankson assists founders, studios and creative-tech teams in transforming ambitious ideas into profitable and sustainable projects. His expertise covers notably strategic positioning, structuring of offerings, connecting with key partners, and negotiating international collaborations.
During his talk at GITEX, Garry Yankson stressed a central point: the necessity for Africa to master and valorize its own content and intellectual properties. According to him, the rise of artificial intelligence opens new perspectives to create value, strengthen technological infrastructures, and disseminate African narratives on a global scale.
« Thanks to AI, we now have a unique opportunity to develop our own narratives, to invest in research and development, and above all to remain owners of our creations », he explained.
He also highlighted that these issues were debated during a dedicated session on the AI stage at GITEX, attended notably by representatives from African institutions, underscoring the growing importance of these questions in the continent’s economic strategies.
For Garry Yankson, the challenge is now collective: he calls on entrepreneurs, investors and institutions to become more involved in these dynamics, in order to build a solid ecosystem capable of generating long-term value.
His approach is based on a balance between creative vision and operational rigor, with a clear objective: to structure projects able to establish themselves in international markets while remaining rooted in African realities.
