In an exclusive statement to Tunisie Numérique on Thursday, April 23, 2026, the president of the Tunisian Association for Education Quality, Slim Kacem, delivered a series of recommendations to baccalaureate students and their families, as the revision period and the exam date approach. Kacem stressed that the students involved in this year’s baccalaureate exam are almost at the final stage of this process that crowns years of work and study.
Methodology and time management: two essential principles
Kacem explained that there are two major principles that must accompany this final stage: methodology and time management. Regarding methodology, he explained that it essentially rests on how the student organizes and structures their revision. These skills should have been acquired over the years of training. As for time management, he described it as one of the greatest challenges and a real problem for many students, due to the impact of digital networks and social media, which “consume students’ time.” This has even more pronounced effects for those preparing to take the baccalaureate.
The importance of methodology and time management
Kacem insisted that the revision methodology, the acquisition of information and exam practice, as well as the ability to manage daily, weekly and monthly time, are of paramount importance to arrive on exam day with confidence, with all their skills and far from stress. He stressed that this organization of time is essential to improve students’ performance during revisions.
Stress: necessary, but to be managed with prudence
While Kacem did not deny that stress can be very harmful for the student, he nevertheless specified that, to some extent, it is necessary. “Stress in itself is not necessarily negative. It is essential that the student feels some pressure to adjust their behavior and strive to succeed better,” he explained. He emphasized that stress can be a motor to push students to work more seriously, as long as it is controlled and does not become overwhelming.
The role of parents: beware of student indifference
Slim Kacem drew attention to the need for parents to ensure they do not encourage indifference among students, a behavior often resulting from repeated talks about avoiding stress and fear of emotions. This approach, according to him, has contributed to the spread of indifference among some students, even when they obtain mediocre results. He added that, in some cases, students do not take the exams seriously and waste a lot of time on social networks, to the detriment of their preparation. “A little leisure is necessary, but not excessive,” he clarified.
As the baccalaureate exams approach, Slim Kacem’s advice on methodology and time management becomes essential anchors for students. Although he acknowledges the importance of stress as a motivating factor, he insists on finding a balance between work, revision and relaxation to approach the exams in the best possible conditions.
