Ben Gurion Airport became the scene of chaos on Thursday, April 28, 2022, when an American family returning from a sightseeing trip in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights accidentally brought with them a military rocket that did not explode.
Passengers at the terminal were thrown into panic, and one individual was injured while attempting to escape in a baggage transportation vehicle.
It is important to note that the Golan Heights, a region traditionally contested and colonized by Israel after the Six-Day War, was captured from Syria during that conflict. Since October 1973, the area has experienced no military conflicts, which means that the rocket in question is over 50 years old.
