Eid al-Adha: Licensed shared taxis to serve the entire country

Written by: Adel Khelifi on May 24, 2026

The Ministry of Transport has announced, on an exceptional basis, the authorization granted to shared taxis (“louage” taxis) to operate trips across the entire territory of the Republic, without being required to respect the circulation zone indicated on their operating map. This measure will be in effect from Friday, May 22, 2026 to Monday, June 1, 2026.

Teams of inspectors from the ministry have also been mobilized to ensure the monitoring and control of this program at bus stations, at the stations of the Tunisian National Railways, as well as at the “louage” collective taxi stops across the entire national territory. A coordination office has, moreover, been established within the General Directorate of Land Transport and the regional directorates of transport, to strengthen the effectiveness of control operations.

The ministry has also authorized the public road transport companies to provide additional services on all of their lines, as well as on other lines depending on demand. This measure will allow an overall increase in supply estimated at 45%.
