The Assembly of the People’s Representatives approved, on Tuesday 28 July 2026, a bill approving the guarantee agreement concluded on November 3, 2025 between the Tunisian Republic and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The agreement concerns a loan granted to the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG) in order to contribute to the financing of a project involving the acquisition of modern mining equipment and the installation, in Gafsa, of an advanced high-pressure filtration unit intended for the treatment of wastewater.

Bill No. 49 of the year 2026 was approved by 58 deputies, while 13 voted against and 9 abstained.

This loan aims to support the Gafsa Phosphate Company in acquiring modern mining equipment and the implementation of an advanced high-pressure filtration unit for the treatment of wastewater in the Gafsa region. The project falls within the framework of infrastructure development and the improvement of the efficiency of water resources exploitation in mining activities.
