The National Institute for Standardization and Industrial Property (INNORPI) announced that a meeting was held this Tuesday, September 15, 2026, chaired by Nafaâ Boutiti, the Institute’s Director General.
The meeting brought together representatives from INNORPI and a delegation from the Saudi Halal Center (Saudi Halal Center). The gathering was devoted to examining ways to strengthen Tunisian-Saudi cooperation, through the definition of work strategies mainly based on harmonizing approaches, exchanging expertise and training, as well as establishing a mutual recognition mechanism for Halal conformity certificates.
This approach aims to strengthen the presence of Tunisian products in Gulf markets and to facilitate their access to the Saudi market.
“This recognition, currently under study, constitutes a strategic step to consolidate Tunisia’s position as a country exporting high-quality halal products and to strengthen the competitiveness of Tunisian companies. It would also contribute to increasing Gulf consumers’ confidence in Tunisian products,” said INNORPI.
This meeting also allowed presenting the system for issuing conformity certificates currently in force at the Institute, as well as the procedures followed for the issuance of Halal conformity certificates. The participants also received an overview of the infrastructure of the global halal system recognized by the Saudi side.
