According to French media, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is currently under investigation regarding issues related to the broadcasting rights of Ligue 1 in France.
The alleged illegal matter that led Nasser Al-Khelaifi to be heard concerns a possible conflict of interest relating to broadcasting rights involving the media giant beIN Sports.
Al-Khelaifi and beIN Sports deny the accusation
According to a source familiar with the situation, Al-Khelaifi had withdrawn from almost all meetings of the LFP’s board of directors over the preceding year and had avoided any meeting dealing with issues related to beIN.
In a letter sent in February to the National Ethics and Deontology Council of the French Football Federation, seen by Reuters, beIN stated that although Al-Khelaifi holds the position of president of beIN Media Group, he does not perform any operational or executive function within the group or beIN Sports France — responsibilities which, the letter notes, fall to the group’s chief executive Yousef Al-Obaidly.
