The Tunisian Order of Physicians stated, in a press release published this Sunday, that any suspicion of misconduct in the management of medical cases is addressed through established evaluation and accountability mechanisms, guaranteeing equity for patients while preserving the dignity of health professionals. It stressed that, despite the constraints, the health system continues to ensure daily a large number of successful medical interventions thanks to the competence of medical and paramedical teams.
This clarification comes in a context marked by the extensive media coverage of certain medical cases, both in the media and on social networks, as well as by the growing interest they arouse in public opinion, which has led the Order to provide several clarifications on how these dossiers are handled.
In this framework, the Order called for strengthening citizens’ health culture and for encouraging media approaches based on precise and balanced scientific information, in order to limit inaccurate interpretations and promote a clearer understanding of health issues.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to guaranteeing the citizen’s right to access reliable health information, while emphasizing the importance of preserving the trust-based relationship between the patient and the physician, considered an essential element for the success of the care pathway and ensuring the best safety conditions.
