The head of government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, stated, during a restricted cabinet meeting she chaired today, that the approach adopted for drafting the 2027 Finance Bill is to strengthen the resilience of the state budget in the face of global crises and the repercussions of the ongoing conflict during the year 2026.
This approach rests notably on the diversification and modernization of the economic fabric, the support of production systems, the encouragement of collective initiatives, as well as the continuation of the objectives set by previous budgets in terms of food, energy, water, and pharmaceutical security. It also aims to guarantee Tunisian citizens access to essential needs, in a geopolitical context that is unstable and marked by strong uncertainties at the global level.
The head of government also stressed that the 2027 Finance Bill must take into account the persistence of the repercussions of regional and international geopolitical tensions, notably in the Middle East, as well as their direct effects on the prospects for the world economy, in particular on energy and commodity markets, supply chains, and international trade. In addition, climate challenges and their impact on growth and economic stability are added to these.
She explained that the persistence of global uncertainties requires adopting a forward-looking and flexible approach, capable of accompanying these changes, strengthening resilience and the capacity for adaptation of the national economy, stimulating investment and fostering sustainable economic growth.
She added that this stage represents a major turning point in the implementation of the strategic orientations of the Development Plan 2026-2030. It involves accelerating the realization of development programs and projects as well as implementing the strategic reforms envisaged by this plan.
This approach requires adapting financial and economic policies to the principles and national choices, giving particular attention to the prioritization of the state’s intervention priorities across different domains and sectors, and consolidating the choice of autonomy in order to strengthen the foundations of economic sovereignty and the independence of national decision-making.
