The specialized brigade dedicated to investigations into crimes of violence against women and children in Ksar Hellal, in coordination with the public prosecutor’s office, has opened an investigation into an assault committed against a child within a childcare facility located in Sayada, in the Monastir Governorate.
The investigation follows the broadcast, on Wednesday September 30, 2026, of a video showing the assault of a child inside this establishment.
From a preventive and health perspective, the mother of the child concerned has been heard. The child has also been referred to appropriate care and psychological follow-up. An audience before the family judge must further be organized in order to take the necessary protective measures to ensure their physical and psychological safety.
A daycare operating without authorization
According to initial information gathered, the establishment in question would be operating without the required authorization and outside the legal framework, in violation of the charter governing the sector.
Regional authorities, in coordination with the Regional Delegation for Women’s and Children’s Affairs of Monastir, are moving toward taking measures against this establishment.
The regional delegate for Women’s and Family Affairs in Monastir, Bahija Abdelkader, confirmed that the daycare was illegal and operated in an anarchic manner.
She specified that its owner had previously submitted a request for opening the establishment, but that it had been rejected by the General Inspection, after several complaints had been filed against her when she ran a school daycare, which had subsequently been closed.
The regional official also indicated that the woman appearing in the video mistreating the child was the director of the daycare. According to her statements, she is currently on the run and is being sought by security authorities.
Finally, the regional delegate urged parents to verify the legal status of nurseries and child-care facilities before enrolling their children there, in order to prevent such oversteps and help ensure their safety.
