Sponsorship – Sports: Mbappé Switches from Nike to Swiss Brand

Barely implicated in the Ceuta shirt affair, Kylian Mbappé is facing another matter, but this time financial.

The French international forward for Real Madrid, now 27 years old, officially leaves Nike, with whom he had been tied since the start of his career, to sign with the Swiss brand On, based in Zurich. Thierry Henry, world champion in 1998, becomes its football director.

This news concerning Mbappé was announced by the brand itself on Friday.

In its statement, On writes in particular: “Today, the Swiss sportswear brand On announces its entry into football alongside the football champion Kylian Mbappé, marking the beginning of the brand’s journey in the world’s biggest sport.”

Mbappé: « I want to bring my experience »
In this same statement, Kylian Mbappé himself spoke, notably: “From the start, what attracted me to On is the possibility to build together something totally new, which will help shape the game of tomorrow. I want to bring my experience and my perspective to what we create, to push the limits through innovation and to always stay true to the joy of football. We have a common dream, and this is only the beginning.”

No amount was disclosed by the same Swiss brand concerning the contract signed by the captain of the French team.

“On” was founded in 2010 and had, up to now, specialized in manufacturing running and tennis shoes. Among its shareholders is the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer. At the end of his career, Federer himself had also left Nike to join On. For Nike, Mbappé’s departure is certainly a big blow. The brand still counts other major football names among its ranks, such as Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior.
