Different units of the Directorate of Intelligence and Research of the National Guard have succeeded in dismantling a criminal network specializing in cocaine trafficking, following extensive intelligence work and investigation.
According to the information gathered, the network mainly conducted its activities in several areas of Greater Tunis, notably Berges du Lac, La Marsa and Gammarth. It was reportedly led by a rap singer.
After the completion of the investigations and field operations, a series of simultaneous raids were carried out in several sectors, notably Manouba, Sidi Daoud, Bhar Lazreg, La Marsa and Berges du Lac.
The operation led to the arrest of 13 alleged members of the network, among whom is the rapper presented as its leader. Another suspect was placed on the list of wanted persons.
Security forces also seized a large quantity of cocaine, a drone, a substantial amount of money suspected to originate from drug trafficking, as well as three cars and two large luxury vehicles, which would have been used for transporting and distributing the drugs.
Investigations are continuing under the supervision of the Central Drug Enforcement Brigade, in coordination with the competent judicial authorities. Investigators are particularly seeking to identify other potential members of the network and to determine all the circumstances surrounding its activities.
