According to data published by the INS, in Tunisia, the number of divorces pronounced by first-instance courts has shown a fluctuating trend over the last five judicial years. The total over the five judicial years (2018-2023) reached 73,924 divorce cases.
- 2018-2019: 17,306
- 2019-2020: 13,302
- 2020-2021: 12,598
- 2021-2022: 14,706
- 2022-2023: 16,012
After reaching 17,306 cases in 2018-2019, this figure fell sharply to 13,302 in 2019-2020, then to 12,598 in 2020-2021, the lowest level observed during the period.
The trend then reversed, rising to 14,706 cases in 2021-2022, and to 16,012 in 2022-2023.
These data thus indicate a gradual rebound in divorces after two years of marked decline, though not returning to the peak recorded in 2018-2019.
