A meeting held this Tuesday, September 8, 2026, between the Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Export Promotion (CEPEX) and the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Tunisia focused on ways to boost bilateral trade and to strengthen Tunisian olive oil exports to the Vietnamese market.

Both parties stressed that the volume of trade between Tunisia and Vietnam remains below its potential and the opportunities available, which requires intensifying joint efforts to better publicize the products and sectors considered as priority.

They also stressed the importance of strengthening contacts between economic operators and the institutions responsible for foreign trade in the two countries.

The data presented at the meeting indicate an untapped export potential estimated at around 18 million dollars, mainly in the olive oil and dates sectors. Meanwhile, the volume of trade between Tunisia and Vietnam reached about 526.6 million dinars in 2025.

CEPEX expressed its willingness to develop its cooperation relations with its Vietnamese counterpart, the Vietnamese Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE), under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.

This orientation could notably be translated into the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing an institutional framework for cooperation, information and expertise exchange, as well as organizing joint activities designed to support trade between Tunisia and Vietnam.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed the importance of continued consultations and coordination in order to better exploit the available opportunities and to strengthen the presence of Tunisian products on the Vietnamese market.
