The volume of trade between Tunisia and Vietnam reached approximately 526.6 million Tunisian dinars in 2025, while an untapped export potential estimated at nearly 18 million US dollars remains, primarily in the olive oil and dates sectors, according to the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX).
These data were discussed during talks held on Tuesday between CEPEX’s Chief Executive Officer, Mourad Ben Hassine, and the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Tunisia, based in Cairo, Nguyen Nam Duong, on the occasion of the latter’s official visit to Tunisia to deliver a copy of his letters of credence to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad.
According to a CEPEX press release, the meeting addressed the state of economic and commercial relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them. The two parties estimated that the current level of bilateral exchanges remains below the potentials and opportunities available, stressing the need to intensify efforts to better promote the products and priority sectors and strengthen contacts between companies and the economic actors of the two countries.
The two officials also examined upcoming bilateral milestones, notably the next session of the Tunisia-Vietnam Joint Commission, which is expected to take place soon. This meeting is regarded as an opportunity to give a new momentum to bilateral cooperation and to explore new opportunities for economic and commercial partnerships between the two countries.
On this occasion, Mourad Ben Hassine expressed CEPEX’s willingness to develop its cooperation with its Vietnamese counterpart, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, operating under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, notably through the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding to establish an institutional framework for cooperation, to foster information and expertise exchanges, and to organize joint activities aimed at supporting trade between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of continuing consultations and coordination, as well as better exploiting the available opportunities, in order to strengthen the presence of Tunisian products on the Vietnamese market.
