Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, received, on Friday, June 5, 2026, Mr. José Ignacio Madrazo Bolivar, who delivered to him a facsimile copy of his letters of credence as Ambassador of the United Mexican States to Tunisia, based in Algiers. On this occasion, the Minister praised the strength of Tunisian-Mexican relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1961. He reaffirmed Tunisia’s desire to infuse a new dynamic into this historic friendship by strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, notably the economy, trade, education, higher education and culture. He also highlighted the convergence of the two countries’ positions in international forums, particularly on issues related to social development and the fight against poverty. The two parties also stressed the importance of leveraging major sporting events to strengthen the ties between the two peoples. In this regard, the Mexican ambassador stated his country’s willingness to provide all necessary facilities to the nations participating in the final phase of the 2026 World Cup, including Tunisia, in order to contribute to the success of this global event. He also expressed Mexico’s willingness to further develop bilateral cooperation within the framework of an action plan to be agreed upon by the two parties.
