Written by: Adel Khelifi on June 15, 2026

A fire, which broke out Monday afternoon in the Sidi Ameur region, within the Testour delegation, in the Béja governorate, scorched about 3.5 hectares of durum wheat crops, as well as half a hectare of herbaceous vegetation and wood debris, according to a source from Béja Civil Protection to the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) agency.

The Civil Protection teams, aided by forest officers, managed to bring the flames under control and prevent their spread to neighboring areas. The causes of the fire remain unknown for the time being, according to the same source.

It should be recalled that intensive campaigns to raise awareness about fire prevention had been organized before the start of the cereal harvest season in Béja Governorate, which began on June 7.
