The Director General of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia) and head of the Tunisian Investment Authority, Jalel Tebib, spoke with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Tunisia about the prospects for developing investment partnerships between the two countries, particularly towards the African markets.

The discussions also addressed the activation of bilateral memorandums of understanding in the economic field, with the aim of further strengthening investment relations and exchanges between Tunisia and Egypt.

13 Egyptian-participation enterprises active in Tunisia

During this meeting, Jalel Tebib indicated that 13 enterprises with Egyptian participation are currently operating in Tunisia in the industrial sector.

He considered it necessary to increase this number so that the level of investments more closely reflects the economic potentials and opportunities available to the two countries.

The official also stressed the need to continue joint efforts to consolidate Tunisian-Egyptian economic relations and to promote greater integration on the African continent.

AfCFTA as a lever for integration in Africa

The two parties notably discussed the opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to develop joint projects and to access together the various markets on the continent.

This approach could enable Tunisian and Egyptian companies to leverage their complementarities and strengthen their presence in Africa through industrial and investment partnerships.

Egyptian companies ready to strengthen their cooperation

For its part, the Egyptian Ambassador to Tunisia affirmed the willingness of Egyptian companies to strengthen their relations with Tunisian counterparts in several sectors.

The meeting was also marked by an invitation addressed to the Tunisian side to participate in the Global Forum scheduled for next October in the city of El Alamein, Egypt.

This event should provide a new opportunity to explore cooperation opportunities and to promote economic and investment partnerships between the two countries.
