The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) issued a statement on Tuesday indicating that, due to the heat wave anticipated to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26, 2026, disruptions and outages in electricity distribution could be recorded from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
In this context, STEG urges all of its customers to reduce, as far as possible, the use of air conditioners, which constitute the main factor driving the increase in electricity demand during peak periods, and to adopt measures that help rationalize their electricity consumption.
These measures will help ease the pressure on the grid and, as much as possible, limit the risks of disruptions and outages, STEG said.
