The Administrative Commission of the Municipality of Tunis unanimously approved the municipality’s accession to the consortium of the project “CITYMINE – Urban Mining Ecosystem for Circular Construction,” dedicated to the development of the circular economy in the construction sector.

According to a post by the Municipality of Tunis on its official Facebook page, this project aims in particular to promote the reuse, recovery, and valorization of construction materials, while contributing to reducing the waste arising from construction and demolition activities.

A project focused on material valorization

The accession of the Municipality of Tunis to the consortium should help strengthen cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the fields of sustainable urban development and rational resource management.

The CITYMINE project also aims to support municipal initiatives related to the circular economy and to promote new practices that give a second life to construction materials.

Through this approach, the project partners seek to promote more sustainable resource management in urban spaces and to limit the amount of materials destined to become waste.

The membership procedures will continue

The decision was taken during an extraordinary session of the Administrative Commission of the Municipality of Tunis, held under the supervision of the head of Municipal Management, in the presence of the executives and the relevant municipal services.

The meeting was specifically devoted to reviewing the invitation addressed to the municipality to join the project’s consortium. The Commission decided to pursue the various regulatory and legal procedures required for this accession.

During the same meeting, several other files of a technical, administrative, and legal nature were also examined by the Administrative Commission.
