Scientific Research: Three Tunisians Among the World’s Top 40 in Geology and Geophysics

Three Tunisian researchers have distinguished themselves in the international ranking “Top1000 Scholar” 2026, dedicated to geological and geophysical studies. This ranking, based on the period 2021-2025, brings together 1,000 researchers worldwide.

A notable Tunisian presence in the global ranking

According to the reported results, Professor Younes Hamed, of the Faculty of Sciences of Gafsa, occupies first place at the national and global level.

Professor Hakim Goubantini, of the Center for Research and Technologies of Water, ranks second nationally and 38th worldwide.

As for Professor Mohamed Soussi, of the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, he ranks third nationally and 39th globally.

A recognition for Tunisian scientific research

The presence of these three researchers among the top 40 of the global ranking highlights the contribution of Tunisian expertise to the development of research in geology and geophysics, notably in the field of groundwater resources.

These results also showcase the scientific work carried out within the Center for Water Research and Technologies and Tunisian higher education institutions.

This distinction thus helps strengthen the visibility of Tunisian scientific research on the international stage and to highlight the expertise of national researchers in strategic areas related to natural resources.
