Three Tunisian industrial companies, active in agro-food, animal feed ingredients, and logistics, have recently obtained ISO 14001 certification, the international reference for environmental management systems.
According to the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Tunisia, this step aligns with the direction of Tunisian industrial companies toward more sustainable practices and toward improving their environmental performance, in order to strengthen their competitiveness and to meet international requirements and standards.
ISO 14001 certification enables companies to identify and control the environmental impacts of their activities, to set objectives and actions for continual improvement, to monitor environmental performance indicators, and to integrate these considerations into their management system.
The three companies were supported by the project “Qualitative Growth for Employment” (CQE), which helps Tunisian industries adopt more sustainable production practices and improve their competitiveness. This project is funded by the European Union and by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and implemented under the supervision of GIZ, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy.
For its organizers, this initiative illustrates the growing trend among Tunisian industrial companies to integrate the environmental dimension into their production and management strategies, contributing to the transition toward a more efficient, more responsible, and more sustainable industry.
