As part of the promotional actions for the Tunisian destination carried out by the National Tunisian Tourism Office (ONTT), the services of the Regional Tourism Police Station of Kairouan accompanied a delegation of seven German journalists on a trip aimed at highlighting the country’s tourist assets.
The program notably focused on Tunisian sites that served as backdrops for scenes that have become iconic of the Star Wars saga, in the south of the country, and of Indiana Jones, in Kairouan.
The delegation also discovered several of the city’s major historical monuments and tourist sites, including the Great Mosque of Okba Ibn Nafi, the Bir Barouta monument, the tomb of Abu Zamaa al-Balaoui, as well as the Medina tourist circuit.
Each year, on the occasion of Mawlid, the capital of the Aghlabids welcomes thousands of visitors from various regions of the country. The city is then animated by religious celebrations and various events that fill its streets and public squares, in a spiritual and festive atmosphere, accompanied by significant economic activity.
