A security source stated on Tuesday that the information circulated regarding the case of a minor girl who was a victim of sexual assault is “incorrect”, noting that investigations continue to identify and arrest all persons involved.
In a statement to the TAP agency, the same source indicated that at this stage the exact number of people involved has not yet been determined. Some data are not being made public at the moment in order to safeguard the proper conduct of the investigation.
An initial investigation opened
According to the security source, an initial investigation has been opened into the sexual assault of a minor, with alleged recourse to coercion and the administration of narcotic substances, as well as participation in these acts.
Two people suspected of being involved in this case have been identified and are the subject of inquiries.
A second investigation after attacks against security forces
A second investigation was also opened after incidents that occurred when the security units were returned to the scene to carry out the necessary findings.
According to the same source, the officers were targeted by stones and other solid projectiles, causing damage to vehicles. Boards with nails had also been placed to prevent security vehicles from accessing the sites.
The security units operating in Sijoumi identified eight people suspected of having participated in the attacks against the patrols. Two of them were placed in custody.
Two more people placed in custody
During a further move to the scene to continue the findings, security forces also arrested a nurse who had provided assistance to the victim in a residence linked to one of the suspects, as well as a relative of the latter.
The two people were placed in custody after consultation with the public prosecutor’s office, according to the source cited by TAP.
The investigations continue
The security source stressed that the competent units continue a series of field checks and technical analyses to establish all the circumstances of the case.
Efforts to detain all involved continue, whether they are the alleged perpetrators or potential accomplices.
